LOCKDOWN
(SCHOOL)
PROJECT STORY
The Lockdown motion piece was created with the intention of making a motion piece that brought to light and represented a social issue. Lockdown is a song made by Anderson .Paak that spoke on the issues surrounding police brutality and the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020. The piece itself is a practice in kinetic type, making use of the descriptive nature of the song in hand. Ending the video with a list of names in the Say Their Name movement and a Black Lives Matter symbol, the ultimate goal of course was to pay homage to the subject in a proper manner, giving it the justice it deserves.
THE HISTORY OF CHICAGO
(SCHOOL)
PROJECT STORY
This motion piece surrounds the long and storied history of the American rock band Chicago, centered around the tragic and sudden death of lead guitar and vocalist Terry Kath. Kath's death represented a monumental shift in the sound of the band, going from a harder rock sound with heavy guitar and rough and gritty vocals in the 70s, to a band that emphasized the power love ballads that defined the 80s. This piece aims to show the impact that Kath's sudden death had, and the stark difference in sounds that the group experienced, all while managing to stay successful over the span of more than 50 years becoming the highest selling American band in history.
